Urgent Action Needed! SB172 allows a minor, (any child under 18), to consent to medical treatment and healthcare services for the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases including treatment of STD's and contraception without parental consent. Parents have a fundamental right to direct the medical treatment of their child. This is a dangerous bill for children.
The hearing for this bill is scheduled for Thursday March 9, 2023 1:00pm in the Senate Committee on Judiciary.
How can you act? 1) Contact the bill sponsors and the Senate Committee on Judiciary:

2) Send your testimony to SenJUD@sen.state.nv.us before Thursday March 9 at 1:00pm.
Put the bill number (SB172) and position (Oppose) in the subject line. Tell them that parents have a fundamental right to direct the medical treatment of their children and children CANNOT consent to healthcare decisions. Do not support SB172.
Parents' rights are protected under Nevada law. In 2013, the Nevada legislature adopted NRS 126.036 to protect fundamental parental rights. Parents are the stakeholders and these rights must be protected.
3) You can testify in person in Carson City or Las Vegas: - Room 2135 of the Legislative Building, 401 S. Carson St., Carson City, NV.
- Video conference to Room 4412E of the Grant Sawyer State Office Building, 555 E. Washington Ave., Las Vegas, NV.
