CCSD Trustees to Approve Sexuality Education Curriculum on 4/28/22 (Date Correction)

Controversial Sex Ed Curriculum Will Be Up For a Vote by CCSD Trustees on Thursday, April 28th 2022
Dear Parents, Grandparents and Concerned Community Members,

The CCSD Board of Trustees will be holding their regular board meeting this Thursday, April 28th at 5:00 pm at the Greer Education Building located at 2832 E. Flamingo Road in Las Vegas.

We are concerned that the newly recommended sexuality education curriculum by Advocates for Youth was placed on the consent agenda, which means that these major additions to the curriculum will not be up for discussion by the board.

There is a big difference between the health education currently offered and the sexuality education by Advocates for Youth.
The biggest difference is that health education focuses on the science of reproduction, the dangers STD's pose to health outcomes, the benefits of focusing on healthy friendships, and delaying sexual activity until adulthood. Advocates for Youth teachers that "young people understand that reproductive and sexual health and rights are inextricably tied to social justice and the fight for liberation."

Our community has strongly objected to sexuality education because we expect unbiased instruction rather than agenda-driven curriculum that encourages experimentation, early sexual debut, promotes abortion, downplays the consequences of teen pregnancy and the dangers of STDs.

Education should elevate our children's minds and inspire them to seek excellence. That is what we expect from public education.

CALL TO ACTION

2) Review the Agenda and Board Docs and attend the board meeting this Thursday at 5:00pm.
