CCSD is not in compliance

State Board of Education Meeting
4/21/22 at 3:00 p.m
Dear Parents and Community Members,

Thanks to our awesome parent volunteers, we will be expanding our emails to include information on the State Board of Education meeting agendas and other issues pertaining to your parental rights.

The State Board of Education will meet for their regular meeting on Thursday, April 21st at 3:00 pm. Please see the agenda here. If you would like to watch the proceedings, please click on this link.

The State Board of Education sets the standards for all of the school districts in the state.

Agenda items of interest are:
1) Information, discussion, and possible action regarding the implementation of Assembly Bill (AB) 469 (2017). CCSD is not in compliance with AB469 which was meant to be a reorganization of the district. Each school in the district should be a local precinct which should have given parents and administrators greater autonomy. You can read the text of the bill here

2) The consent agenda (item 6) shows the possible approval of a WestEd Board of Directors. At this time we do not know why this board is being formed, however, we encourage parents to view the WestEd.org website and learn about this organization since this board will likely be forming to impact education for all Nevada students. As we get more information, we will share.

Mark your calendars for the next CCSD regular school board meeting on Thursday, April 28th at 5:00pm. We will send the agenda next week.
