CALL TO ACTION-Please SAVE Opportunity Scholarships!

View In Browser Dear Powerful Parents,  Please join us tomorrow! The Nevada State Assembly Committee on Taxation is voting on a bill TUESDAY, APRIL 2, 2019 at 4 PM that impacts all Opportunity Scholarship waitlisted families. AB 458 will eliminate increased funding for the scholarship program and families who are currently waiting to be funded will be cut off forever. Make no mistake that these legislators are trying to end school choice in Nevada because this bill will also end incentives to companies to donate to the fund. To summarize:  We won't receive any increase in funding, waitlisted families completely lose out and becuase incentives will end for companies and corporations, the program is at high risk for ceasing.  You are the parent and you have the RIGHT to choose what school your children attend because you know what's best for them. Our underprivileged kids and families will be impacted the most and won't have the opportunity to attend better schools. Why end such a wonderful program?  If you were awarded the scholarship or you have been waitlisted, believe in school choice, are a corporation/company who is concerned about this-please show up with us to testify or be counted in opposition!  HOW YOU CAN HELP: Please come out to the meeting on Tuesday and tell the committee members that you OPPOSE bill #AB 458. If you feel comfortable taking 1 or 2 minutes to share with the committee why your child needs this scholarship you will be able to do that too. We will have people there to meet you and give you stickers to wear. You can attend the meeting in Las Vegas or Carson City on Tuesday, April 2nd at 4 p.m.: Attend in Las Vegas: Grant Sawyer State Office Building Room 4401 555 E. Washington Ave.   Las Vegas, NV Attend in Carson City: Room 4100  Legislative Building 401 S. Carson St. Carson City, NV   1. If you cannot attend in person, please call Committee Chair Assemblywoman Dina Neal at 775-684-8587, and Assemblywomen Ellen Spiegel at 775-684-8577 and let them know you OPPOSE Bill #AB 458 and state you are on the wait-list for a scholarship. In a few sentences state why your child needs this educational choice. 2. Post a comment on the bill at https://www.leg.state.nv.us/App/Opinions/80th2019/  Enter "AB 458" for the bill number and check the button that you are AGAINST the bill. Then share a few sentences on why you want a scholarship. Legislators look at these posts! BILL # AB 458 HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DESTROY THIS INCREDIBLE LIFE-SAVING PROGRAM AND WE MUST MAKE OUR VOICES HEARD TO CHANGE THE COMMITTEE MEMBER'S HEARTS AND MINDS. WE NEED YOUR HELP TODAY!
