Unfortunately, Senate Bill 179 (SB179) passed out of the Senate yesterday. SB179 is a bill that seeks to eliminate archaic language from previous laws that address abortion. Our main concern, among the many, is with language that will be removed from current law, specifically addressing the provider knowing the age of the girl or woman seeking an abortion. SB179 will diminish the quality of care women will receive in abortion offices.
We are grateful for all of the Senators who voted against this bill and ask you to join with us in sending an email to specifically thank these Democrat Senators for their "no" vote in order to protect the health of women.
The the Nevada Educational Choice Scholarship Program (Opportunity Scholarships) have been referred to the Senate Finance Committee for a hearing.
We NEED your voice right now to help save this vital school choice program.
This program uses private business tax money to fund scholarships for low income families to help them find high quality educational programs that they otherwise could not access.
Please take a moment to email these committee members and ask them to fund this program to help Nevada's most vulnerable kids access high quality education.

We are excited to report that AB295 (sex ed expansion) will not be heard this session. Friday's hard deadline on unheard bills guarantees its defeat. This is an enormous victory for Nevada parents!
During the 2019 legislative session, Power2Parent has been watching bills that affect parental rights in law and policy. We were very concerned about (AB295) for the following reasons:
AB295 would require all public and charter schools to implement Comprehensive Sex Education (CSE) that introduces them to sexual content as early as kindergarten.
AB295 would change opt-in to opt-out. With opt-out schools are not required to notify or receive written permission from parents when sexually explicit curriculum is presented to children.
AB295 would take away local control over curriculum, and allow outside entities like Planned Parenthood to be the purveyors of sex education at school.
This is the second legislative session in a row that parents have defeated comprehensive sex education legislation. But, in spite of this legislative victory for parental rights, we are watching for similar proposals on a local level. Many School Board Trustees in Clark and Washoe counties are in favor of comprehensive sex education curriculum, Planned Parenthood advocacy in schools, and changing opt-in to opt-out.
We will continue to be watchful and keep you up to date on future developments.
Sincerely,
Power2Parent
