Please read the following from Valeria Gurr, Nevada State Director and join us in standing up to protect your parental rights!  Dear Friends,  On Sunday, May 19, you are invited to attend our rally in support of the Opportunity Scholarship program, and to ask lawmakers for funding that prevents students from losing their scholarships. If the Legislature does not act now, students could be forced back into learning environments that do not meet their learning needs. The rally will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Grant Sawyer State Office Building in Las Vegas.  You have made an impact and your advocacy efforts have been noticed, so on Sunday, let's also remember all that we have accomplished. This will be a fun event for the entire family, with live music, food, and activities for the children. Please make sure you do everything you can to be there. Your presence is important. Wear blue if you can!  The Grant Sawyer State Office Building is located at 555 E Washington Ave #5100, Las Vegas, NV 89101. On Sunday, we will show legislators that the Opportunity Scholarship Program is helping our children succeed; therefore, the program should be fully and permanently funded. View In Browser Dear Powerful Parents,   Wednesday May 8th, no sooner than 12:30pm the Health and Human Services Committee will be hearing testimony for Senate Bill 179 (SB179). This bill seeks to eliminate the age verification requirement for women seeking an abortion. Current statute "requires a physician to certify in writing the pregnant woman's marital status and age before performing an abortion." Nevada has one of the highest rates of sex trafficking. Not knowing the age of a girl seeking an abortion puts her at greater risk for exploitation, and protects her exploiters.   We are asking community members to contact their legislators and ask them to fix current parental notification laws by adding a section requiring expedited judicial review for minors seeking an abortion.     Please attend this hearing:   Las Vegas Grant Sawyer State Office Building Room 4412 555 E.
