VISIT RATEDBOOKS.ORG
Once you read it, you can't unread it. Unlike books' much younger cousins in the media family - movies, television programs, music, and video games - books remain unrated. This didn't used to be an issue, but graphic and explicit obscenity has made its way into books that sit on public school shelves. To protect our children from obscenity in public school libraries, we encourage parents know what your child is reading in class. Ask their teacher for reading lists of material that will be presented. Know what they are checking out from their school libraries. If you are not sure about a title, ratedbooks.org is a great resource for guidance. Much like movies, books are rated on the content and messaging of thousands of titles. We can help our children choose wisely, and protect our vulnerable youth from pornography.
