Dear Powerful Parents,
Power2Parent has been serving families in Nevada (and beyond) for nearly 8 years! In that time we created two separate entities. One is a 501(c)(3) the other is a 501(c)(4). There are clear and distinct differences in these organizations missions and activities.
What’s a 501(c)(3)?
The Definition: A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is typically created for religious, charitable, educational, scientific, and/or educational intent. They are tax-exempt, conduct research, and are limited to an amount of lobbying, advocacy, or political activity. Donations to 501(c)(3) organizations are tax-deductible.
Power2Parent Union Mission : We unify, educate, and empower parents and community members to advocate for their children and their rights.
What’s a 501(c)(4)?
The Definition: A 501(c)(4) is a “social welfare group” that can advocate for causes and propositions, like 501(c)(3)s. However, 501(c)(4)s can also endorse specific candidates – one of the most substantial differences between the two. While nonprofit organizations with this status are also tax-exempt, donations to 501(c)(4) groups are not tax-deductible.
Power2Parent Action Mission: Power2Parent Action supports policies and candidates that work to protect education access, strengthen the family, and defend parental rights.
In order to serve our members better we are creating clearly defined, distinct social media accounts, websites, email lists, activities, and much more. All 501(c)(4) activity will be found at power2parentaction.org. Power2Parent Action has sent questionnaires to all the candidates to help gauge where they stand on issues that affect parental rights and education freedom.
Please visit the new website and follow all the Power2ParentAction social media channels on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter @p2pact to see which candidates are committed to elevating and empowering parents voices.
Power2Parent Union is still on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter @power2parent. Follow us!
Parental rights are fundamental rights and we are committed to protecting and promoting these rights!
