We need your voice now! Mark your calendars for Monday, March 18th-2:30pm!

Parents & Community Members,

We need your presence to voice your opinion Monday, March 18th at 2:30 pm!  SB179 (Senate Bill 179) would remove from Nevada law parental notification and consent for girls under the age of 18 to get an abortion. This means a teenage girl can become pregnant and obtain an abortion without anyone ever finding out. This is concerning to us as parents, who have to give our consent for that same child to be able to take a Tylenol for a headache, but it is also concerning to our community.

The state of Nevada has a big problem with sex trafficking. According to a 2016 report by the National Human Trafficking Hotline, Las Vegas was ranked 6th out of US cities based on incoming reports of human trafficking. If a minor has been lured into a sex trafficking ring, she can be sexually exploited, become pregnant and be taken to an abortion provider for a forced abortion. Removing obvious protections for girls like informed consent-understanding the emotional and physical risks associated with abortionand parental notification guarantees these girls will continue to be victimized by traffickers. SB179 aids criminals and further allows crime rings operate without consequence.

In an article published March 13, 2009 in the Nevada Independent, Lt. Nate Chio, who leads the Special Investigations Section at LVMPD said "this industry (is) spiraling out of control despite the best efforts of the LVMPD".

Please do everything you can to attend this hearing so we can send the message to legislators that they MUST protect our children in Nevada from this dangerous bill.  There is mention of a possible amendment which is further reason to attend in person. Abortion is dangerous; children need their parents.

It is scheduled for Monday March 18 at 2:30PM:

-Room 4412 of the Grant Sawyer State Office Building, 555 E. Washington Ave., Las Vegas, NV.

-Room 2149 of the Legislative Building, 401 S. Carson St., Carson City, NV.
