Trustees vote 4-3 vote in favor of moving forward with a gender diverse policy

Dear Powerful Parents,

Last night's 6 hour marathon Trustee meeting yielded a 4-3 vote in favor of moving forward with a gender diverse policy.  We applaud the efforts of Trustees Kevin Child, Chris Garvey and Linda Young who spoke honestly about the need to protect ALL students. We appreciate their professionalism in articulating their positions and advocating for privacy and parental rights in spite of verbal abuse and protests from activists.

Although the vote did not go the way we had hoped, we are more motivated than ever to see this policy process through to the end. The unprecedented number of parents who have engaged this process has sent a clear message that parents care about their students and policies that affect them. Power2Parent has built a coalition of parents and community members that have a powerful collective voice. Your continued engagement is a critical tool in reminding our Trustees and other elected officials who align with special interest groups who their real constituencies are and what we expect from them.

With the coming election season, the best way to engage in the process is to VOTE. Please follow the link to check your voter registration status or complete your new voter registration.
