2022 has been an incredible year for Power2Parent. This past year we expanded our powerful team of moms and dads who are passionate about empowering families. We are excited to report on some of the ways we grew this year.
In September of this year, we were awarded the Family Power Impact Grant from Opportunity 180 that has allowed us to expand our current programs and create new ones aimed at equipping parents and families to take charge of their child’s education and upbringing.
In October, we launched our Empowered Parenting Conversation series with a panel of teachers who discussed important ways parents can be more involved in their child’s education.
In December, we we invited a culinary teacher from a local micro school to teach us how to decorate beautiful Christmas cookies while building family connections. In early 2023, we will be hosting a Critical Conversations with our Kids in an effort to help foster better communication between kids and adults.
Throughout the year, we have empowered and advocated for hundreds of parents who have experienced issues with their child's school and advocated for the expansion of school choice programs across the state.
Additionally, through our partnership with Hope for Prisoners, we organized service opportunities for local families and collected over 100 backpacks full of school supplies and 101 Christmas stockings for the children of incarcerated parents.
In order to help us empower even more parents this year we are excited to announce the opening of our Parent Resource Center. We will be moving in to our new center on January 2nd (this Monday!).
And finally, our first annual Gala was a huge success! We hosted over 300 parents and stakeholders. Our keynote speaker was Corey DeAngelis, a nationally recognized school choice advocate.
We are in full swing planning our next Gala coming up on March 4th 2023!
Parents have the fundamental role in the upbringing and education of their kids. Our rights are not granted by the government. The role of government is to protect those rights. The key to protecting kids is to empower parents to advocate for them.
Thank you for partnering with us in this incredibly important work. With your continued support, we will make 2023 even more powerful! |
