Important information on the upcoming CCSD Board of Trustees Meeting 1/27/22

Engaged Parents are Powerful Parents!
Dear Powerful Parents,

One of the best ways we can advocate for our kids is to be informed and engaged with the school district. CCSD is the 5th largest district in the nation. Often, parents and community members feel like their voice and efforts to advocate do not make a difference. Our army of parents is the most important voice and we can make a difference when we are looking out for our kids' education. Our children are our most valuable assets. Knowing what is happening at school, on the district level and communicating with your elected trustee keeps our officials accountable.

The CCSD Board of Trustees will be holding their regular board meeting on Thursday, January 27th, 2022 at 5:00 pm.

The meeting will be held at the Greer Education Board Room located at 2832 E. Flamingo Road, Las Vegas.

There will be discussion on the 2022/2023 school calendar, the police officers contract between CCSD and the Police Officers Association, and a discussion on the implementation of the CCSD reorganization (AB469).

Those who would like to testify may sign up to speak during regular business hours by calling 702-799-1072.

Fighting for Families

Let's Fix it BEFORE we fund it!

Friends,

This is Charlie Nicole De La Paz, a proud Nevadan, Republican, small business owner, parent, and longtime education advocate.

As a mother of four current Clark County School District students, I'm tired of being told year after year that the solution to a better education is more money instead of more choices.

Parents were promised more school choice options and told that access to a better education for their children would be a priority. Instead they watched more money spent on the same broken system while Opportunity Scholarships expired and Education Savings Accounts went unfunded.  No wonder Nevada has ranked in the bottom five states when it comes to education for over a decade.

That's why last week I officially announced my candidacy for Nevada State Assembly District 19, because like a lot you, I'm tired of waiting on someone else to follow through on those promises.

My promise to you is prioritize your family's future as much as my own. I believe we should work on fixing broken programs before funding them, and if you agree, I'd love to have your support.

You can learn more about my campaign and background by heading to www.CharlieFornevada.com or by replying back to this email or writing anytime to Charlie@CharlieForNevada.com.

Reminder: CCSD Closes Schools for 5 days Due to Staffing Shortages

All CCSD Schools Will be Closed 1/14/22 - 1/18/22
CCSD Board of Trustee Meeting Thursday, 1/13/22
Valley High School Theater
Dear Powerful Parents,

CCSD is closing all schools and cancelling athletics, safe key, field trips, athletic practices and travel due to staffing shortages. Schools will be closed Friday, January 14th - Tuesday, January 18th. Students will return to classes on Wednesday, January 19th.

CCSD is adjusting the calendar to provide a 5-day pause. Parents sincerely hope that this 5-day pause will not turn into another disastrous distance learning situation. We have the tools to combat and treat COVID-19 and all its variants. Our students are still suffering from a year of learning loss. We know that distance learning is not effective, and more dangerous to kids than COVID-19. The CDC announced that children are safe at school and schools should be "the last to close," according to CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky.

The CCSD Board of Trustees will be holding their regular board meeting on Thursday, January 13th, 2022 at 5:00 pm. The venue has changed to Valley High School Theater located at 2839 S. Burnham Ave, Las Vegas NV 89169.

Those who would like to testify may sign up to speak during regular business hours by calling 702-799-1072.
