Re: Only 4 days left! Do you want school choice to be funded?

Parents and Community Members,

We are demanding that our elected officials prioritize funding our school choice program because we are fed up with the lack of options. Those kids who thrived through the pandemic had school choice and all kids deserve to have options.

Anti-racist Policy Update

CCSD Board of Trustees Meeting Tonight
The CCSD Board of Trustees will be holding a regular board meeting tonight at the Edward A Greer Building located at 2832 East Flamingo Road beginning at 5:00 pm.

Dr Mike Barton will be giving an "update on the anti-racism policy development work." Please attend the meeting or listen online at www.ccsd.net.

Recently the CCSD Board of Trustees voted to begin the process of creating an anti-racist policy for our district. One of the members of our board will be part of the task force that will assist in writing this policy. CCSD has announced the following steps to create the policy.
  • Form a community-based Anti-racism, Equity and Inclusion Policy Task Force
  • Host task force meetings and develop draft recommendations
  • Post recommendations publicly for review and input via online survey
  • Write first draft policy and post for public input
  • Present public input comments, survey data, and draft policy to the Board of School Trustees
  • Present revised draft policy for Board of School Trustees consideration

This process will take time, and we will keep everyone informed about dates and times of the input meetings - including how to make your voice heard through testimony and email campaigns to your trustees.

As participants in the policy task force, our goals are as follows:
  1. We will help identify where gaps may exist in current law or policy that may allow racism to happen at school.
  2. We want to ensure that every student feels respected.
  3. We want to ensure that this policy reflects the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King where every person is judged by the content of their character rather than the color of their skin.

Thank you for your support and interest in these important matters that impact our children's education and our families.

Breaking News! Huge Win for Parents in NV!

Victory! Power2Parent's Lobbying Efforts Protect Homeschooling Families in Nevada!
Power2Parent has been fighting hard, alongside the homeschooling community to remove harmful language in a bill proposed by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE). AB19 would have mandated that certain subjects be included in all homeschool curriculum. Our primary concern with the language was that homeschools do not fall under the jurisdiction of the NDE. They have no right to tell parents what they must teach in their home. With our attorney, we worked on an analysis and brought the legal concerns to our legislators.

Last week, Erin Phillips and I lobbied at the Nevada Legislature. We met with legislators for the purpose of protecting homeschoolers and fighting for school choice. We are grateful for your donations that helped make that happen!

Please join us in thanking Senator Mo Denis for taking the time to meet with us in his office, and for listening to concerned parents on this issue. He has officially removed the section about homeschooling curriculum in AB19. This is a huge win for homeschooling families in Nevada.

Send an email thanking him for removing harmful language from this bill and protecting homeschool laws.
