Cuídense mucho y no anden saliendo.
Les mando muchos saludos.

Prof. Cristina Cruz Carvajal.

Examen HCMex

Prof. Cristina Cruz Carvajal.

Reminder: May is for Mothers

Volume 5 | May 2020
MONTHLY NEWS & UPDATES
May is for Mothers
THE POWER OF PARENTING
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
"To the whole world you might be just one person, but to one person you might just be the whole world."

Although sources don't agree on this quote's source, they do agree that moms do the great majority of child care work in our society.

As mothers, we may question how much good we really do each day. We may never know the end result of our day-to-day actions with our children, and we may feel like a failure for not completing everything on our never ending to-do list. But if we step back and look at all the roles we fill we have good reason to give ourselves a pat on the back. We are life-givers, creators, teachers, therapists, caregivers, providers, coaches, cheerleaders, healers and more! Let us always remember the power of a hug & kiss and of the words, "I love you" from mom.

Thank you to all mothers for your quest to make life better for your children and to make this world a better place for us all. This month we honor you and all you do!
YOUR TIME TO SHINE
“The most important thing that parents can teach their children is how to get along without them.” – Frank A. Clark

We all want our children to grow up to be successful, contributing members of society. Although we might feel pressure to get school work complete, a lot of important life skills are taught in the home. Now is a great time to teach lessons that will help our kids when they are living on their own.

Learning won't necessarily happen from school work that is sent home and completing worksheets doesn't necessarily mean the transfer of learning is complete. Reading, writing and arithmetic can all happen at home in our everyday home routines. Doubling a recipe can help teach fractions and reading instructions on a recipe can help with reading comprehension. A great way to instill a love of learning is to help children love learning while they're at home with you. Try showing them how what they are learning applies to every day life and watch as the light bulb goes off in their minds.

POWER2TEACH
MONTHLY GIFT CARD WINNER
CONGRATULATIONS LINDA DENNEY!
Linda is this month's Power2Teach winner of a $50 Amazon gift card and will be entered into our end of year $500 grand prize drawing.
Linda is a Kindergarten teacher at Myrtle Tate Elementary School. Linda was nominated on two separate occasions for going above and beyond for her students. Prior to schools being closed, one parent explained that "she spends (literally) countless hours preparing for class each week and most weekends. Her desire is that every child has an opportunity at being successful and discover the wonder of learning and being part of something bigger each and every day. She prefers to teach in a Title I School because she also believes that regardless of their financial situation all children deserve a quality education."

Since schools moving online she has been nominated for continuing to do everything she can for her students. Another parent explained, "She has been doing to the school lunch pick ups and three square food banks to get food for her students who don't have transportation. She also calls her kids everyday and does a video everyday for her students."
NOMINATE YOUR OUTSTANDING TEACHER!

Do you have a teacher who has gone the extra mile for your child, or who has had an amazing influence on students in the State of Nevada?

Each month we choose one teacher in Nevada who receives a $50 Amazon Gift Card who is then in the running for our yearly $500 grand prize!
